Pregnancy Pilates Classes

Four’s pregnancy reformer Pilates classes are run by our team of Women’s Health physios and pre/post-natal trained instructors. These classes are aimed at strengthening and stabilising the key muscle groups required to help you to stay comfortable and confident throughout your pregnancy and into the fourth trimester. Key focus areas include the deep core, pelvic floor, postural muscles, hips, legs and upper body.
No previous Pilates experience is required. We are able to cater to any specific needs or concerns so please let us know at your first session if this applies to you.
About our expecting classes
Our team of Women's Health physios understand the changes that your body goes through during pregnancy - right from the first trimester, all the way through to your due date. Because of this, we have designed a specialised pregnancy reformer Pilates class to support you through your prenatal journey - EXPECTING.
There are no modifications needed, as everyone in this class is pregnant too! We focus only on the areas that need it in pregnancy - including teaching you how to connect with your deep core and your pelvic floor, targeting the gluteals and hips for improved single leg stability, strengthening your upper body and postural muscles, and of course still providing you with a great 45 minutes of exercise that will ensure you leave feeling satisfied and comfortable in your body.
Core exercises in pregnancy have long been debated, however current research now states that training the abdominal muscles is super important in order to support your growing bump, and offload your back and pelvis. Our teachers are trained in programming pregnancy safe core movements into their classes, and will assess and monitor your ability to control load through your abdominals throughout the class.
We are also skilled in assessing and managing pregnancy related pelvic pain, and although we won't be able to provide an assessment during class - our teachers can modify all exercises to support you where needed.
If you aren't sure if pregnancy Pilates is right for you, our Women's Health physios are happy to see you for an assessment in clinic and can provide you with individualised advice on exercise and rehab.
