ACC physio Christchurch

ACC physio Christchurch
Four Physio and Health is an ACC accredited clinic in Christchurch and offers ACC services for general physiotherapy and women’s health. ACC covers anyone who has been injured by an accident in New Zealand, whether a citizen, resident or visitor.

What is ACC?

ACC is New Zealand’s Accident Compensation Corporation. They provide compulsory insurance cover for personal injuries, meaning they may pay some of your medical and rehabilitation costs following an accident or injury.

ACC covers injury from sprains to permanent disability. They do not cover illnesses, diseases, infections, age-related conditions or non-work related gradual process injuries. Depending on your injury ACC may pay a proportion of medical costs, provide assistance with home help, special aids or equipment, transport, therapy and support.

When it comes to physiotherapy, having an ACC injury claim means ACC will contribute to the costs of treatment. So rather than paying the full (private) price, you simply pay a subsidised treatment fee and they pay the rest!

Who is eligible?

ACC covers anyone who has been injured by an accident in New Zealand, whether a citizen, resident or visitor. An accident is described as “a specific incident, event, or series of events, which causes an injury to a person.”

There are a few different types of injuries that ACC covers, including:

  • Injuries caused by an accident

  • Maternal birth injuries

  • Sexual violence

  • Treatment-related injuries

  • Gradual process conditions that are caused as a result of the work that you do

Do I need a referral from my doctor?

Nope! Our physios are able to lodge an ACC claim for you at your initial appointment. This is submitted online and you will receive confirmation of your claim being approved almost instantly, simple as that!

Book online today if you have any injuries that are needing attention. If you’re still unsure whether yours is an ACC injury or not, we can go through this with you at your initial appointment.

Frequently asked questions

If you have any relevant documentation such as a referral letter from your doctor or specialist, ACC claim details, or anything else that may be useful then please bring it along to your first appointment.

We always have a spare pair of shorts and blankets/towels in the clinic, so if you forget to wear the appropriate clothing on the day we’ve got you covered - literally!

Please note: if you are attending a running clinic consultation then please remember to wear active wear, and bring along your running shoes plus orthotics if you have them.

Imaging (plain X-ray, ultrasound or MRI) can be indicated in the event of certain injuries or conditions, although this depends on your presentation, history and symptoms. Our physios can arrange referrals for imaging if appropriate, and work alongside many of Christchurch’s leading specialists if further investigation is required.

The Four team are busy bees! Which means our diaries can get booked up, sometimes weeks or even months in advance! We apologise for this, and aim to do everything we can to accomodate to the needs of our Four clients.

If you are struggling to find a time that works for you, don't hesitate to contact us via phone call or email. We have a cancellation list which we can add you to, and we will let you know if an earlier appointment time becomes available.

For general physiotherapy bookings for acute injuries, we aim to hold some last minute appointments each week, these may not be visible in our online booking system, so once again please get in touch if you are in need of an urgent appointment!
